Owners of houses without smoke alarms will be fined and could be refused home insurance under fire safety measures to be announced tomorrow by the State Government
After the house fire which killed 4 kids, the government has decided everyone should have smoke detectors. Apparently, a house full of children 13 years old and younger with a fire and a beeping white box is safer than one without a beeping white box. They keep talking about how the kids would have been saved had the home owners installed smoke detectors. Ahum. I think having a beeping box still would not have done anything to save a house full of 7 children when one puts a pillow on a heater. I think the better idea would be to have at least one adult present to mind the children, instead of heading down to the pub to get smashed then over to some friends place while leaving kids behind. Apparently the woman (whom had 4 kids to 4 different men - 2 of whom are in jail) lied to the mother of the girl whom perished along with her sons, saying she just ‘popped down to the petrol station to get some food for the kids’ lunchboxes’. And the man of the house was outside, drinking a beer and watching the flames while their friend moons the media and shouts at them swearing. A group of lovely people, I’m sure.
Now, Dr Patel (or Dr Death as he’s now known) will get away with multiple murders as he’s hiding in Oregon and nobody sues doctors there since you can’t prove any murder wasn’t just a bit of a mistake. Tell that to the many many dead people and that guy whose heart he operated on without anaesthetic “cos this operation is better done that way”.
I went to the doctor yesterday to get my antibiotics. The doctor I saw is Indian and is having problems with patients not trusting him since apparently if one Indian doctor is a psycho killer qu’est que c’est, all of them are. He’s a friggen nutter!
Another reason to notch up 2005 as The Worst Year Ever award. Bec’s nan’s sister died this morning. Can we move on to 2006 already? We don’t want to see what the next 6 months have in store. It’s bad enough as it is so far…
