Lilith and Prez had a BOY!

Friday, July 15th, 2005

From Prez:

His name is Dashiell Vincent, and he was born a midnight today (the 14th July). He weighed 7lbs 6oz at birth, and mother and baby are doing just fine :)

Be sure to keep checking our gothling website (http://gothling.silentgarden.net) for pictures and more information about the birth and baby (we hope to be updating the site in a few days).

What a cool name! "Vincent" – that’s my first name on Second Life hehe :)

Baby CONGRATULATIONS PREZ AND LILITH! Baby

Busy times

Oh what fun we’ve had emoticon

Lisa was in Tweed, so I drove down and picked her up Saturday afternoon. She stayed overnight and I took her and the kids to Pac Fair for the day. We went to Intensity arcade parlour and played games there then traded the tickets in for some crappy nice toys for the kids. We had some lunch there then headed home. I dropped Lisa off at the airport that night and she had a windy flight back home to Sydney. It was great catching up with her and something that needs to be done more often.

Chris and Jo arrived Monday evening and Blake and I picked up some pizzas that evening and brought them home to munch on. Chris and Jo arrived about 15 minutes afterwards and quickly heated up their pizza a bit and had their garlic bread too.  I got out some sparklers from the cupboard which had been sitting there for some months and we lit them and went out the back yard in the dark to play with them. Blake thought it was a fantastic idea and a great way to celebrate Chris’ birthday.

Yesterday, Chris, Jo and I went to Seaworld and had a great day out. It was overcast so not a lot of people were around. We saw the "Quest for the golden seal" show and the 4d environmental show. The kids in the audience kept trying to reach up and grab the 3d animals and were ducking when a snake came out to get them and a monkey was throwing apples at their head. We had some fun rides and got a bit wet on the Bermuda Triangle ride, altho Chris loved the volcano as it had fire belching out and helped warm him up. It didn’t rain at all that day. We were heading home when we walked past the skiing show. We ummed and ah’ed about going to it and finally decided to give it a go, which was a good thing when I saw the eye candy there. Two girls were dressed in cheerleader costumes and dancing and jumping around. So it was all worth it after all. I think there was some ski jumping going on as well but I didn’t notice that much at all.

We’re going to have a BBQ tonight for Chris and Jo’s last night here. I bought some meat on the way home from Seaworld yesterday and a ton of bacon which was only $7/kg. I love bacon. emoticon

Blake had an ‘off’ day at school, so the less said about that the better. Suffice to say he was home at 1:30pm instead of 3pm… emoticon

Sienna has been running around unclothed for much of every day. Today (as you saw in a previous comment) she was getting into everything. Tipping a whole jar of coffee onto the lounge and floor, climbing onto the bench to eat all the newly cooked muffins, climbing onto another bench in order to push her way through a window and jump out. God knows what would have happened when she landed on the concrete outside. Bec only just saw her as Sienna was putting one foot out through the screen. Whew!

Yawn what a night

Saturday, July 9th, 2005

So here I am at work. It’s 2am Saturday morning and I’m not terribly happy.

They were supposed to have a server come down from Fortitude Valley. They were going to start packing up the server at 8:30pm and leave probably by about 9pm, but the ‘powers wot be’ decided to do a complete backup of the server at 9pm.

The first idea was to do a backup over the network…… from Fortitude Valley above Brisbane in Queensland… to a server in Glebe, Sydney. *Ahem* emoticon

Once they saw that would take about 5-6 hours or more, the guy whom was doing the transfer went home and picked up a USB external drive and whacked it in the server and started the backup. By the time he was ready to leave it was 12:20am.. 4 hours late.  I left home at 1:00am and got to work about 5 minutes before he arrived. Now we are busy setting up the server and networking it so the PTB can log in and do their funky thang. Not too happy Jan. It’s 2:30am now as I’m typing this when I get a couple minutes to spare.

I hope I can get to sleep in a bit in the morning and the kids aren’t too noisy and wake me up. They were supposed to start their swimming lessons again today but I’m not going to be able to take them as I will be totally stuffed (and hopefully asleep) and Bec isn’t up to the task either, being not 100% well.

Don’t know if I posted already but I’m having an annual leave day on Tuesday as Chris and Jo will be up staying at our place a couple of nights and we might go out for the day and have some fun. I’m sure Sienna will love it too.

Fucken terrorists..

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

Yet again the terrorists have to murder innocent people in cold blood.

Why oh why must they continually destroy lives without a care? Do they hate the government or the army? Then why not hurt THEM instead of innocent people going to work.

I really don’t understand this world we live in.

Just as everyone is finally getting over September 11.. the western world gets rocked again.

Some old news from Feb I’ve just found: Stevens, who has retired, spoke of the "inevitability" of an Al-Qaeda attack on London shortly after the Madrid commuter train bombings in March last year in which 191 people died. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2005-02/05/content_415346.htm

Was it for G8? Was it for the Olympics? All of the above or something else sinister? Who knows.
