Archive for December, 2005

Well I guess I didn’t need that $300 after all.

I took my car to KMart Tyre and Auto service yesterday to get four new tyres.

The ones at the front were worn right down on the inside (obviously needed a wheel alignment $45). In fact, the one on the right was worn right down to the canvas.

The one on the back-left was doing the same and the one on the back right was not so bad, but if you replace three you may as well do the four so they are the same.

What a time of year to have to spend the money, though. Argh!

Just about to take Sienna out swimming. Bec bought her some new swimmers during the last week, so she is way happy with them, running around yelling about how it is "Swimming dee-ay!".. very excited.

Blake had his last day of school yesterday, so I expect this means today is the last day of swimming.

On a side note, I just noticed YAHOO has taken over Del.Icio.us

Don’t talk to me about life!

Oh your God! You have just GOT to see this!!!

Click the link dammit!!!

Saturday morning I took Sienna swimming as usual and she picked up a Swimmer safety certificate. She was so happy. When we got home she ran from the car to show mummy.
After swimming I went to the local mall and got a haircut then did a bit of shopping. I picked up some decorations and outdoor lights.
When Sienna had a nap I put up some Christmas decorations. Sienna woke up and wandered around the lounge room going ‘Wow! Look at that!!’. Blake was impressed as well.
I got the ladder out and put up the outdoor Christmas lights around the gutter and along the fence. Another set of lights I bought are arrayed like a mesh net and I threw it over a big tree in the front yard (after first spraying out tons of huge spiders). I got a stick and, like in Shrek, swiped it through the spiderwebs. In the end it looked like fairy floss.
The in-laws turned up and Rebecca’s dad helped me hang up some of the lights. They gave the kids some presents too.
We watched a great episode of Iron Chef that night too. A Christmas special on desserts.
The next day (Sunday) I woke at 5am (no daylight savings so it’s bright at that time!) and started reaeranging the partitions on my hard drive from C:, D: and E: to C: and D: with a gap of 22gb between them. One 6gb for a temporary install of Mac osx86 and the rest for restoring osx86 to. Took me ages with lots of fiddling but I got it going. I installed osx86 on the 6gb partition but couldn’t get it to boot.
I decided to get myself and the kids out of the house for a bit so we went to the in-laws’ and I fixed up some stuff on their pc.
When I got back I tried some more troubleshooting but still could not get it to work so decided yo try reinstalling osx86. After about an hour it was installed so I rebooted and, using WinGrub, I selected the osx86 partition. I saw the grey apple logo and got excited!! It booted!
It’s running rather slow but there’s ways to speed it up.
It turns out the network card I had removed is compatible but the built-in one isn’t so I put it back in and got on the network and on the internet.
My keyboard and sound card don’t work yet but it’s early days.

Gold Coast flooding

We had more stormage and lightning last night. Kept waking me up all night. Here is a photo I took on the way to work this morning. I didn’t hear any rain at our place but a bit further south it rained heavily solidly from 10pm to 2am.

New version: v1.2

A plane is standing on a runway that can move (some sort of band conveyer). The plane moves in one direction, while the conveyer moves in the opposite direction. This conveyer has a control system that tracks the plane speed and tunes the speed of the conveyer to be exactly the same (but in opposite direction).

The question is:

Will the plane take off or not? Will it be able to run up and take off?
