Had some great fun playing last night. I completed a fishy quest where I =
had to kill some pirahna type Slaughterfish. Hard bastards to kill, they =
are. I finished the quest and ended up with a nice ring which lets me =
breathe underwater. Sweet!

I also tested my Sneak level by creeping into a marauder’s den and stealing =
stuff from their wooden chests. hehe

I popped into Bunnings last night and picked up a replacement doir for =
Sienna’s room. I also grabbed some tiles, grout and adhesive to fix broken =
tiles in the shower. I even bought a hammer drill with a chisel bit to =
break up the old tiles. MORE POWER! *Tim Allen grunts*

So we have new Physics graphics cards to aid in physical collisions, =
ragdolls and objects affected by gravity and other external forces.
I can definitely foresee a future where a Gaming Card will be required. Not =
just for physics but other programming requirements.

Take Pathfinding for example. A memory and resource hog and bottleneck. =
Putting this straight onto a card will free up Processors for other =
work.
A card with A* Pathfinding and other efficient methods has to become a =
reality. We have dedicated soundcards, graphics cards and the =
aforementioned Physics card already. This has to be the next logical step. =
I’ve even heard talk of reintroducing separate Maths Co-processors like we =
had in the old SX vs DX days. Let a separate CPU handle those nasty =
floating point calculations and let the main CPU get on with it’s job. I =
can see more and more there will be a need to break up tasks into =
different, separate parts of a Motherboard or Addon cards to enhance our PC =
experiences. Lord knows Vista’s Aero would benefit from it. How about a =
card or eeprom/flash chip with DirectX on it? Eeprom/Flash, of course to =
make it upgradable. Flash it with the newest capabilities. Hey! Maybe it =
would become easier then for Linux to support DirectX ;)

The more programming functions get put onto cards, the less bottlenecks =
there are for the main CPU to deal with. In fact, why not integrate this =
with Physics cards and make them even more useful?

Happy times >> I found a couple of my really old fave songs and am about to add them to my iTunes list to go onto my iPod song rotation.

Australian group Audio Murphy’s "Tighten up your pants" featuring Melinda Schneider – Techno, yodelling song. ‘Yodel now, Melinda.. yodel-yodel now, Melinda!’, ‘well.. it’s got that good disco beat!’

Julie Brown’s "The homecoming queen’s got a gun" — funny pisstake on 1950s music. I first heard it on Rage when I taped it overnight years and years and years ago.

Sad times >> Poor Sienna has been very sick for the last week. Hasn’t been to kindy at all and has been coughing all day and night, with a temperature.. poor girl. I hope she’s feeling a lot better soon. Rebecca had to take her to the hospital at 1am this morning cos she was so hot and coughing so much.

I’m picking her up tomorrow afternoon and she’s spending the weekend with me. It should at least give Rebecca a chance to catch up on her sleep she’s been missing out on this week.

Other >> Had a phonecall from the Real Estate agent today saying someone was going to have a look through the house at about 4:45pm today. I wonder how it went. They said they were going to let me know afterwards but I haven’t heard a peep. Cross your fingers!

Why are so many rss feeds essentially useless for portable devices? I use =
Avant Go to read news. I download it to my ppc each morning.
Take for example The Register site. Ever tried rss’ing their news?
Here’s a prime example from today’s rss feed:
Heading: “Power cut hits Plusnet”
Info in rss: “Site down”
Why is it down? Where’s the meat of the story? Oh! You have to click the =
link to read more, but that requires an active connection.
Another..
Heading: “Top bean counter to quit C&W”
Info: “So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbyee..,”
Digg.com is just as useless with headings such as “Best.. game.. ever!” and =
info “I dare you to play this game and not like it. In fact if you don’t =
like it then I don’t like you!”.
More.. Heading: “Sony’s Universal Media Disc facing last rites” Info: “poor =
sony, when it rains it pours!!”.
These types of RSS feeds are useless unless you have an always-on internet =
connection (expensive) or a desktop aggregator. The net is abundant with =
this stuff.

Here’s an idea for a useful use of rss:
Let people sign up to your website and sign up for subjects they are =
interested in (eg training courses). The web application creates customised =
rss feeds to subscribe to and members can use a desktop rss aggregator or =
mobile one to download a chapter a day. Then they could read it on the =
train or bus. I know I’d love to see tutorials offered this way. Learn Ruby =
on Rails via Rss!
Authors could even offer downloadable chapters of their books via RSS. =
Members could read a chapter a day.
It would be a novel (!) idea for amateur writers.
I’d program it myself but I just don’t have the time nor experience.
You could even set up a subscription model and charge to be a site =
member.

I’ve been trying to clean the walls from all the marks my little cherub has made during her artistic period.

I found on the web that Eucalyptus oil can get rid of Crayon and it’s done a great job. It also took off the mascara. But what to use for pen? The oil wouldn’t do a damn thing.

Of course turps will, but that also takes off the paint ;)

I read that WD40 is good for pen, but hasn’t done a damn thing so I now have a big can of that.

ThinkGeek as usual has somewhat funny stuff:

iZilla Digital Media Monster, The USB Desktop Tanning Center, RFID Blocking Kit T-shirt, Grow Your Own 1up Mushroom Kit, Wireless Extension Cords, Buzzaire - Metered Dose Caffeine Inhaler, The Screened Sphorb™
