I just phoned iiNet and Telstra and received the news that there’s no way I can get ADSL and probably not in the future either as there’s no plans to rewire anything in my area.

I’m in a WiFi black hole.
There’s no cable internet in my area and Foxtel will not lay any new cables in any area.
Satellite I’m not even slightly interested in trying as it’s $99 per month for 1Gb at slow speeds.
That leaves me……. nowhere. I’m stuffed.
No more torrents. No more big downloads. Hardly any internet usage at all.
Due to the fact that I have Pair Gain on the line I cannot even get fast dialup speeds. The best my crappy internal modem can do is 26.4kbps.
I guess I will just have to amuse myself with my new Foxtel television stations and let it be at that.
Life can, at times, really suck badly.
You have a catch22, you see. You cannot check to see if your home is ADSL capable until you have a phone line connected there, which of course you can only do once you have moved in. If you then find out you have no ability to get ADSL, you can’t do anything about it cos you have already moved in. I really did not want to move home again after moving into this home. The home is in a brand new area .. the streets aren’t even on some maps (including Testra’s!) and yet they connected us up to Pair Gain. *Sigh*
