All is not quite lost yet.
I tested out using broadband via my 3 mobile and can get broadband speeds. There is only one spot in my whole house I can get 3 broadband and that’s right next to my PC.
I signed up today for 3 broadband. $79pm for 1Gb. Yea it’s not a lot but it beats the heck out of dialup lol!
So.. I’m a bit happier again.. for now
And now… back to my bottle of red.

I remember reading something about internet over the 11kV power lines a while back, but not sure what speed it was or even if it’s available yet. Maybe someone else knows something more? Bruce M perhaps?

Energy companies have been beta testing internet over power lines in Australia, but no plans soon. You can even get inter-home networking with your power sockets by plugging the network into the power sockets with correct plugs and networking them that way.

Four power companies are currently conducting trials including Aurora Energy in Tasmania, Energy Australia in Newcastle and two regional providers in NSW.
