I’ve been considering my options for that streaming video/dvd/mp3s issue.

I think I may have a good solution.

A PC with no HDD, no graphics card and a silent power supply.

Stick a WiFi card in it and boot off linux (probably with MythTV for media management) on a USB key. Just use the onboard graphics card to display video.

How about that? Silent but deadly hehe. Now if I can find a really slimline horizontal desktop case, I’d be cheering.

It could stay on 24/7 and not generate heat nor use much elextriskitty.

I sent an email to my member for parliament about my ADSL issue and received a reply within the hour!

Thanks for your email, we have received other complaints from new suburbs in the area for the same problem.

The provision of these services are a Federal responsibility and Bernie Ripoll who is the Labor Federal Member for the area has been raising this issue on behalf of residents. Because of this I have forwarded your complaint to his office for direct action as he will be able to assist and pursue this matter quicker and easier that us.
