Yay! It’s Cheerios time again.

There’s been a fight over affordability. Just Right has been on sale for a while and cheaper than Cheerios but this time the Cheerios were worth it. I don’t remember if they were a bit dearer since JR got off Sale but I really really wanted them heh.

Might check out a couple of homes today.  Looked at one yesterday but it was musty and smelly.. especially the old carpet. I think the previous tenants may have had a dog and it stunk up the place.  The house wasn’t all the special anyway. A pissy little AC unit in the main bedroom and the rest of it looked old. It really needs a renovate.

There’s a really nice looking one in Indooroopilly available for inspection today at 11:30am so I’m gonna go. If it looks as nice as the photos I’m gonna put in an application straight away.  Pray to whichever deity for me?

Batty. If you are reading this, the Atom feed should be fixed now. All the permalinks (aka mod-redirects) were broken for some reason and I reset them in WordPress.   None of the links on the main page worked at all either.

It looks like I found a way to clean up the Orange Juice and chocolate stains in the carpet: Vinegar! What a multipurpose liquid.  You can pour gallons on your fish and chips and let them float in it only to soak it all up, filled with chip and fish fat, into bread and eat it before the bread breaks up and falls on the floor… or you can use it to clean up stains in the carpet.  I’m sure it has other uses, but that’s all from me

Yesterday we went to check out some places.. went to a few Real Estate agencies and it became apparent that my rent value will be the same (or MORE) wherever I go… so I figure if I’m going to be paying city-rate rent I may as well have the convenience of it.

I went to one place (not that great looking, but cheap — obvious why!)  and about 30 people turned up to see it! It’s not far from the city and walking distance from a big shopping centre (Indooropilly) and train station.  No wonder so many people turned up.

So, I’ve decided to bite the bullet and find a really really nice place with some extra conveniences closer to the city than where I am.   I’ve found a few (about a half dozen with a quick look) that are around $300pw and have Air Conditioning, Dishwasher and nice views of the city, etc.  Today Sienna and I checked them all out from the outside. I forgot to take my Refidex, so it’s damn lucky the website pages I printed had little maps on them or we would have been stuck. I didn’t realise I had no map book until we got near the first place and it’s about 30 mins drive from where I currently live! Ack!

We looked at about a half dozen places and from the outside and the descriptions they look like possible winners. I rang all the agencies on the off chance that one is open today, but no such luck. Tomorrow morning I’ll ring them all at 8:30am (the time most said they are open) and start arranging inspections.

I will also pick up a lot of boxes and start putting stuff in them now. Even though I won’t be moving out for about 4-5 weeks, I figure it’s best to get stuff started now while I have the time rather than killing myself in the last week or few days trying to get it sorted out.  I’ll move most of the furniture and stuff into the garage and leave the car outside. That’ll let me get the carpetted rooms empty and I’ll hire someone to give them a damn good cleaning.  Hopefully they can get out chocolate and orange juice :-/ Next place, the first thing I’m buying is a giant cheap rug to stick in the lounge. You can’t stop them from eating in there no matter how hard you try.  Kids will be kids.  I also have to clean the pen off the bathroom door on my ensuite.  about 50% of it is rubbed off so far.

*Sigh* I had been planning this for over a week now, but it’s gone sad to say.

My rent is going up (yet again! it just went up in March ffs!) so I’m spending my Annual Leave week off looking for a new place to live.

Oh well, at least I can find somewhere with ADSL2 and stop whinging about broadband (or the lack thereof) on here.

Hopefully I’ll find a cheaper place closer to the city.  Here’s hoping…
