Sienna was excited all day about going swimming but when we woke it was overcast. We had breakfast and she watched some Dora the Explorer on TV then played some Dora games online. I caught up with some housework in the meantime and finished washing some clothes and packing things away as well as washing dishes.

By the time it got after 10am the sun was shining. I was going to go shopping to pick up a couple of things but Sienna was far to excited about the possibility of going swimming. We gathered our swimmers and towels and headed off down the road to the local pool.

Sienna has no fear. She insists on sliding down the biggest, fastest slide at the pool. Granted, it’s only in the small knee-deep (to me) pool, but there’s a smaller and slower slide which has no interest for her. She loves me to take her to the deeper pool (still only up to my chest, but way over her head) and throw her up in the air so she falls down into the water and swims back up again, laughing her head off and telling me to do it again and again. After some time of this she wants to go to the deepest pool where adults can’t touch the bottom at the deepest part (1.9m) and we hop in about halfway. She swims from me to the side and back, then dives under, does a somersault and comes back up, grabbing my shirt for support. She sees another guy holding his son and jumping then falling to the bottom, holding the boy and coming back up. She wants to do this so we give it a go and she loves it. Next, she sees some kids at the 1.9m deep end jumping off the starting blocks and into the water. She thinks this looks like lots of fun so promptly heads down that way, with me following and trying to keep up without running as it’s not allowed. We get to the numbered starter block and she stands on it and jumps in. I jump in and grab her on the way back up again and she clings to me as we both tread water. I put her to the edge of the pool and she climbs out and back onto another block, telling me not to catch her, and jumps in again. This goes on for about 10-15 minutes and eventually she insists I jump off a block next to her. Well, I do this just after she jumps and I touch the bottom then surface before she gets near the top. I grab her and help pull her up and she’s after another go. As I said, this kid has NO FEAR!

After we have been swimming for an hour or so, it reaches 12pm and I decide we should head home for some lunch and a rest. We jump back in the car and come home. I put on some spicy chicken pieces and potato and a steam bag of vegetables (the same as we had yesterday) and we have our shower, then get dressed in time for the food to be ready. Once it was all eaten she lay down on the bed and has been sleeping for an hour or so now.
